PERSONAL STATEMENT

I became interested in medicine while rotating through various specialties during my internship. It is the challenge in reachingto reach a specific diagnosis and the holistic approach to problem solving that attracted me to this subject. To follow my passion, I joined a six -month post graduate training program in internal medicine after my internship. I later worked in a full-time training position in the department of medicine at a tertiary level academic hospital for about three years. I came to Oman to experience a different health care system in a multinational environment. However, I never stopped learning medicine and completed the MRCP (UK) in 2016. I want to pursue a career in medicine to follow my passion, and I think the NHS would be the best choice for me.

 Managing elderly patients who are aboveover 60 years of age in the geriatric clinic., I screen them for any chronic disease, calculate various scores, such as geriatric depression scale, the activity of daily living, dementia score, and nutritional score with the help of a nurse. I also refer them to appropriate specialties, physiotherapist or social service department, ifas needed.
 Performing Perform various procedures needed in a general practice setting, such as intravenous cannulation, urinary catheterisation, nasogastric tube insertion, suturing a wound, foreign body removal, and ear syringing.
 Delivering presentations on various topics in our weekly CPD sessions.
Managing patients admitted in general medicine and paediatrics wards (while working in a hospital). TakingMaking inpatient rounds, creating progress notes of admitted patients, and discharging them when appropriate.
