Franschhoek is currently rated 3rd in attracting tourists with hard currency, and short-term rentals will always beat long-term rentals.
Long-term rental income is much lower, as people who are not homeowners can’t afford much and would rather rent somewhere else with cheaper rates. Weekend rentals being short-term can equal 30% of the average monthly long-term rental monthly income. We do believe short-term is better than long-term, as it's subject to a good operator with excellent credentials being involved. Marketing the unit is the key to success and bookingsBooking.com appears to deliver results.

Our thinking is as follows:

- There are several operators who can manage the short-term letting who possess excellent references, and we could always keep an eye on your interest as we are right there.
- 21 Cabrière is in an outstanding location for weekend rentals.
- Over the past year, the road in the area was completely resurfaced and this had a huge and negative impact on rentals, and so I don’t think current numbers are very reliable.

No one can say how long it will take for tourism numbers to get back to normal levels; however, we think that many people will decide to “live a little” when things stabilize, and the weak ZAR does make Franschhoek very affordable and attractive as it is a world classworld-class destination.
