Many times, family members may also need support and counselling, to try to better understand the situation and, not only to help the alcoholic, but to help themselves. Everyone experiences depression in a different way. Some get sad, some get lazy, and some feel guilty, and so on. It is unfair that children's lives get rstobbledn from them because of a parent's addictions. Not only does it rob the child of their life, but it changes the child as whole. It can make the child paranoid and cautious, making it hard for them to open up to others. Children may feel high levels of anxiety when the parent is drinking, making them feel on edge all the time. They may feel alone and may be unsure how to cope with their feelings and the chaos in their life at the time. It is important to stay strong in a situation like this, and seek help if necessary.
